Branding PLR Software and Creating your own product

When it comes to private label software, simply turning it around and selling the PLR product unchanged is often the only realistic option for most people. The problem with PLR software is that to make any modifications requires some technical knowledge and programming skills. But that doesn't have to be the end of the story. Even with PLR software there are still things you can do to differentiate your offering from the rest.

Branding PLR Software

The easiest thing you can do is re-branding the PLR software with a new name of your own. If possible, also change the images used in the sales letter and within the software itself to match. The latter isn't as hard as it sounds – if you locate the original image files and replace them with new images of the same size and with the same file name, they will be used within the software in place of the old images.

You can also create bundles, either with other private label software, or with PLR eBooks and reports. Alternatively, you could hire a programmer to make the edits you want for a fraction of the cost of having the entire software coded for you personally.

To be honest though, for most non-programmers looking to market software that promotes their own business brand, PLR software is probably not the best solution. A more viable option is to buy specially made software that's ready to rebrand. With free custom graphic design included, it's easy to have the software reflect your company brand or logo.

If you are selling a PLR product as a standalone product to the audience its content targets (i.e., not as PLR content), at a minimum you want to create new images and a new sales page, along with changing the product's name. Your sales will be much better if you do, partly because the included sales page and images aren't usually that great, and partly because your product now appears unique, even if the content is identical to that sold on other websites.

If you are selling PLR products to others as PLR content, then things like the product sales page and images are less important. They need to look of reasonable quality, because it will impact people's perception of the quality on the content.

So far I've been talking about selling PLR products, but of course you can also give them away as incentives to join a newsletter, or use them as bonus items with other products. If you don't want to have to edit anything whatsoever, this is an easy option. PLR images and website templates are usually resold as-is by most people, although it's easy enough to bundle them and create new packages. As for using the PLR files yourself, you'll probably get the most from private label templates and images if you run a small website design company. Good quality PLR templates can be used over and over to create customer websites.

Whether they are used as they came or with minor modifications, the cost savings from using PLR materials are substantial. The customer will generally be happily oblivious to the fact that their website and graphics were not designed specifically for them.
